Increased unemployment figures drops the Median income for Māori and Pacific people

Information released by Statistics NZ has shown a disparity in the impact of increased unemployment levels measured between 2008 -2010 and median income amongst Māori and Pacific people.

Despite an overall increase in pay for most salary and wage earners from 2008 -2010, Statistics NZ  identified that the median income amongst Māori and Pacific people decreasing by $60 (11%) and $80 (19% ) respectively per week.
