Mining lobby group unhappy with Marine and Coastal Area Bill

Mining lobby group Straterra says the Marine and Coastal Area Bill has a large number of inconsistencies, ambiguities and anomalies in its wording.
In a submission made last week, the group says the bill has inadequate provision for mining companies which hold existing rights to explore or prospect in coastal areas.  It says companies upgrading their exploration permits may not be able to use them if Maori groups object.

Straterra says it supports the intent of the bill, however they have recommended a number of amendments.
