On Monday Nanaia Mahuta, Minister of Local Government, announced that new legislation would shortly be introduced to make it easier for local government councils to establish Māori wards. Two sets of changes are on the cards; interim measures to cater for the upcoming 2022 elections, followed by more extensive changes
