On Wednesday a Parliamentary Member’s Bill to ban seabed mining was voted down at its first reading. The Bill had been introduced by Debbie Ngarewa-Packer (Te Pāti Māori) who, before she entered Parliament, had been heavily involved in work with Ngāti Ruanui and others to defeat applications by Trans-Tasman Resources
